NEWS          TRAILLER AND MUSIC
Rumba en La Habana... con Yoruba Andabo
(Rumba in Havana... with Yoruba Andabo)
An Ayva Música, production, made in Cuba
The lively, sensual, provocative rumba is this story’s core. It starts with a Patakín (story), where inspiration honors the Orishas Elegguá, Oggun, Ochún, Yemayá, Oyá, Changó, Babalú Ayé and Obbtalá; showing the different styles of rumba: guaguancó, yambú y columbia. It reaches its most exciting moment when the drums talk and when singers and dancers, masters of a contemporary vision, include flamenco and rap music in their performances. The DVD’s high number of tracks goes beyond the anthropological knowledge, it leads to multiple readings of the referents enriching Yoruba Andabo’s music and dance performances, a versatile company, defined by a style, an attribute hard to achieve in arts. It is, in fact, the bearer of a distinct language.
